{"id":5673,"date":"2012-10-26T08:11:50","date_gmt":"2012-10-26T15:11:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iwashyoudry.com\/?p=5673"},"modified":"2020-04-10T09:58:22","modified_gmt":"2020-04-10T16:58:22","slug":"foodbuzz-fest-in-san-francisco-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iwashyoudry.com\/foodbuzz-fest-in-san-francisco-2012\/","title":{"rendered":"FoodBuzz Fest in San Francisco 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of my favorite things about being a food blogger is being able to attend Food Blogging Conferences.<\/p>\n<p>We are typically pampered with tons of delicious food and don&#8217;t feel judged when we pull out our iPhone to snap a few pictures of it. While I have had some hairy experiences with a past <a href=\"https:\/\/iwashyoudry.com\/evo-conference-2012\/\">Foodie Conference<\/a> <em>{you&#8217;ll want to read that story sometime}<\/em>, this conference was full of excitement, but no police involved this time.<\/p>\n<p>Last weekend I flew to San Francisco to attend the FoodBuzz Fest. My flight was delayed 2 hours due to fog, so I did what most would do with two extra hours on their hands&#8230; I tweeted, played Cut The Rope, and also people watched.<\/p>\n<p>I love people watching, especially at airports and malls. It&#8217;s fascinating.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5683\" title=\"San Francisco FoodBuzz Fest\" src=\"https:\/\/iwashyoudry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/san-fran-chicken2-700x700.jpg\" alt=\"Pictures from a trip to San Fransisco \" width=\"560\" height=\"560\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">When I finally made it to San Francisco it was a bit of a culture shock to say the least. I hopped on one train to a subway system, and then rode an escalator up to one of the busiest streets I&#8217;d ever seen. Then I walked briskly across the street while a man turned around and started following me, who then proceeded to ask me, &#8220;Why are you following me?&#8221;\u00a0<em>{huh??}<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I quickly found a cab and threw my luggage inside and was off!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5686\" title=\"Farmer's Market\" src=\"https:\/\/iwashyoudry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/DSC03114-700x1051.jpg\" alt=\"Fresh Vegetables at the Farmers Market in San Fransisco\" width=\"560\" height=\"841\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I met up with some great blogging friends where we had a great time playing around with food. Then we waited for about 30 minutes to find another taxi to take us back to our hotel. We finally decided to just walk the 1.6 miles back.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Luckily I had a few friends with me this time because we walked through some real sketchy neighborhoods where I clutched onto my iPhone with all my might.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5684\" title=\"Ferry Building Shops, San Francisco\" src=\"https:\/\/iwashyoudry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/san-fran-chicken3-700x700.jpg\" alt=\"Food and candles at the Farmers Market in San Fransisco\" width=\"560\" height=\"560\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">A few of us went to dinner that night at a great Thai restaurant and were lucky enough to have a quick ride back to the hotel. After chatting all night long with my dear friend Krista from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.budgetgourmetmom.com\/\">Budget Gourmet Mom<\/a>, we finally got a few hours of sleep in our tiny tiny room.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The next day we were up bright and early for another walk to the &#8220;BART&#8221; (subway system), and then a little more walking to the Ferry Building. We got there a little earlier than we were supposed to to get some breakfast. We looked around at all the cute shops for a bit and I decided on a Jalapeno and Cheddar Bagel with Jalapeno Cream Cheese, cause I love things spicy. We had just sat down when a blasting fire alarm started blaring.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5679\" title=\"Scones\" src=\"https:\/\/iwashyoudry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/DSC03145-700x513.jpg\" alt=\"A tray of cookies and desserts in a basket on a table in San Fransisco\" width=\"560\" height=\"410\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I wasn&#8217;t sure if this was a normal thing or if we should leave the building. Keep in mind this is a massive building with a farmers market surrounding it on a busy Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I&#8217;m talking loads of people.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">After a few minutes or everyone looking around at each other, a man in a shiny security vest starts herding people out of the building. Then I hear a worker from one of the coffee shops say, &#8220;This is real!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>Of course it&#8217;s real&#8230; cause only these things happen when I&#8217;m around.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>After standing outside for about 20 minutes, not really knowing what was going on and quickly eating the rest of my bagel, the alarm stops. Then, <em>like nothing&#8217;s ever happened<\/em>, people start walking back in the building.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5678\" title=\"Tomatoes of all sorts!\" src=\"https:\/\/iwashyoudry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/DSC03135-700x700.jpg\" alt=\"Boxes of fruit at a Farmers Market in San Fransisco\" width=\"560\" height=\"560\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0We walked to the front of the building to find the rest of the food bloggers we\u00a0were supposed to meet up with and there were a few fire trucks parked in front of the building. <em>{still not sure what that was all about}<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We proceeded to go on a scavenger hunt throughout the Ferry Building and Farmer&#8217;s Market.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This is where I went picture crazy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5681\" title=\"Grapes!\" src=\"https:\/\/iwashyoudry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/DSC03154-700x1051.jpg\" alt=\"A close up of bunches of grapes at a Farmers Market in San Fransisco\" width=\"560\" height=\"841\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Everything was so so beautiful. The colorful fruits and vegetables were just calling to have a photo shoot.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I couldn&#8217;t help but take several.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5677\" title=\"Tomatoes\" src=\"https:\/\/iwashyoudry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/DSC03133-700x700.jpg\" alt=\"Cherry tomatoes in baskets\" width=\"560\" height=\"560\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I wish I lived closer to a farmer&#8217;s market, cause if they are all like this one, then I would be there every day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">And you would most likely get sick of seeing pictures of fruits and vegetables.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5674\" title=\"Produce\" src=\"https:\/\/iwashyoudry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/DSC03119-700x700.jpg\" alt=\"Vegetables on a table \" width=\"560\" height=\"560\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0I wanted to buy one of everything.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The Ferry Building and Farmer&#8217;s Market was probably my favorite part of the whole conference.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">After we finished up there we rode a bus down to Fisherman&#8217;s Wharf to get a glimpse of the Golden Gate Bridge.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5682\" title=\"Boudin Clam Chowder!\" src=\"https:\/\/iwashyoudry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/DSC03159-700x700.jpg\" alt=\"A sign on a building in San Fransisco saying \\&quot;Boudin\\&quot;\" width=\"560\" height=\"560\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Of course it was too foggy and all I could see was one tiny small red pillar sticking out of the water far off in the distance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We enjoyed a nice and warming sourdough bread bowl full of clam chowder. Then we were back off to the hotel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5685\" title=\"San Francisco\" src=\"https:\/\/iwashyoudry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/san-fran-chicken4-700x700.jpg\" alt=\"Items and food at a Farmers Market in San Fransisco\" width=\"560\" height=\"560\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We walked\u00a0<em>again<\/em>\u00a0to the City View at the Metreon where the Taste Pavilion was. This was a gathering of all sorts of local small businesses and a few larger ones wanting to share their passion with us bloggers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">It was awesome and I was able to meet several great new companies and people.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5680\" title=\"Farmer's Market Purchase\" src=\"https:\/\/iwashyoudry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/DSC03153-700x698.jpg\" alt=\"A large table of grapes and a man putting grapes in a plastic bag\" width=\"560\" height=\"558\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Later that evening,\u00a0<em>after a much needed energy drink<\/em>,\u00a0we went to the California Academy of Sciences where we were spoiled with more great food as well as dazzling displays of sea creatures and reptiles of all sorts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I met so many wonderful bloggers, but failed to pull out my camera and take pictures. I blame it on the fact that I was so exhausted from all the walking and the constant go.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5676\" title=\"tomatoes\" src=\"https:\/\/iwashyoudry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/DSC03132-700x1051.jpg\" alt=\"Baskets of cherry tomatoes on a table\" width=\"560\" height=\"841\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The whole trip was great, but tiring.
